So the results are in… and we came third! We’re now the proud owners of a bronze award, a nice little early Christmas present.

A big thank you to the person who nominated us, to everyone who voted for us, to the judges and the rest of the team at Rocky Bytes. Congratulations to the other winners – 2D Game Art Guru and Gamers Sphere – we’re honoured to be amongst such awesome company!

On 10 December 2015, Rocky Bytes will reveal the results of their first ever Bytes that Rock! Software Awards. The website offers analyses of the most interesting software and games for Windows, and the team have graded and tested over 5,000 programmes in their mission to introduce them to users. The awards have been designed to recognise the achievements of programmes, games and blogs related to the industry that have stood out over the past 12 months and are divided into three categories: games, software and blogs.

We’re extremely humbled to write that 1001Up has received a nomination in the last group. Sometimes it can be a bit of a struggle to produce articles while juggling family and day-jobs, so the fact that the kind people over at Rocky Bytes have said ‘what [the site] lacks in content at the moment it certainly makes up for in quality and is an enjoyable read’ really means a lot. A big thank you also to friend-of-the-site Pete for his artistic help this year; we’re sure he’ll blush when he reads that ‘1001Up is a nicely-designed blog which is very easy to navigate’.

The nominees in each category will be judged by three jury members who are closely involved in the world of software and video games. Users will also be able to choose their favourites and have a positive influence on the final results. This is where you guys come in: we’d really appreciate your support and help in spreading the word! You can cast your vote by heading over to the Bytes that Rock! website and clicking on the big orange button by 08 December 2015 – and by doing so you’ll be entered into a raffle where you could win yourself a Microsoft Office 2016 license or Grand Theft Auto V key.

The award winner in each category will be announced on 10 December 2015 so good luck and well done to all of the nominees. Regardless of whether we succeed we’re immensely grateful for the nomination and will continue to provide independent, interesting, fair and quality information – along with a healthy dose of nostalgia and dollop of good humour – as mentioned in our philosophy.

We’d like to thank everyone out there who has ever heard of, looked at or followed 1001Up. If you lot were video games, you’d be classics of your time and awarded our highest score.
